Islanders Education (IE) is the largest private education provider in the Maldives. In 2008, IE opened Billabong High International School and Kangaroo Kids Preschool, becoming the first to open a private International School in the capital city, Malé. In 2012, IE was awarded the largest education development project in the capital city - The Ameer Ahmed Education Project, that includes the development of community school, private international preschool and primary school as well as a teacher training institute. Islanders has completed 2 phases of the 4 phase development project (ahead of its intended schedule) and today operates Kangaroo Kids International Preschool (Dream Campus) and Ameer Ahmed Community School (a Corporate Social Responsibility project) on the Ameer Ahmed Education compound.
