Queensgate Investments LLP is a London based private equity firm which advises and manages around GBP 3 billion worth of assets through its suite of Queensgate Investments Funds. The firm is a partnership between the Kow Family, Peterson Group and Alvarium Investments (formerly known as LJ Partnership). It is focused on acquiring control positions in asset backed operating companies in Europe, the UK and the US. The firm differentiates itself by its nimble, flexible, and non-institutional approach to producing superior risk adjusted returns. Jason Kow launched Queensgate in 2010 and is the Chief Executive Officer. In 2019, Queensgate Investments LLP acquired four Grange Hotels (Grange St Paul's, Grange City, Grange Tower Bridge and Grange Holborn) for circa GBP 1 billion from the Matharu Brothers with the 4 hotels making up one million square feet of unencumbered real estate in central London. The hotels in the portfolio have been leased to Fattal Group, an Israeli listed hotel company. That same year, Queensgate Investments also acquired Freehand Hotels for circa USD 400 million from Sydell, Yucaipa Companies and Alliance Bernstein. Freehand Hotels is a US lifestyle hotels brand, owner and operator of hotel assets with circa 1,000 keys across four landmark hotels in the key gateway cities Manhattan, Miami Beach, Downtown Los Angeles and Chicago. In 2018, Queensgate Investments LLP sold London Executive Offices (LEO), a 5-star serviced office operator, for c. GBP 450 million. LEO is the owner and operator of 40 assets and approximately 1M square feet of office space across Belgravia, Mayfair, Midtown and the City of London. The previous year, the firm acquired Generator Hostels for GBP 450 million from Patron Capital. Generator is now the largest lifestyle hostel company globally with 15 mainly freehold sites, circa 9,000 beds across key cities.
