About Berk Partners

Berk Partners has its origin in Berk Holding, founded in 1974, being the private management company of Ben Pon. In 1990, Ben Pon decided to sell his entire equity interest in Pon Holdings - importer in the Netherlands of Volkswagen and Audi car brands - to his family. After this Berk Holding was transformed into an investment company. One of her investment areas was private equity, providing risk-bearing capital to medium sized, unlisted companies. One of the distinguishing features of Berk Partners is its structure of enterprising shareholders. The shareholders of the funds are mostly (former) entrepreneurs, all of which have a broad knowledge and extensive business experience in many sectors. Every shareholder brings in his own certain industry-expertise and thus can give a valuable contribution to the investments or even play an active role. The investment amount (shares, venture capital, subordinated loan) varies from EUR 1 – 3,5 million. Given its origin Berk Partners particularly focuses on family businesses. Especially those which are Dutch (or have their headquarthers in the Netherlands), medium sized, successful and led by enterprising people. In most cases the companies operate in a niche market or have a leading position in the industry or at least have the potential to become one. Berk Partners is an active and involved shareholder, a 'partner in business'. The critical success factor for the development of the company results and thoug for the success of the investment, is the quality of the management team. Therefore at the start of the investment period Berk Partners spends a lot of time at the mutual building of a good relationship with the management. Berk Partners is one of the leading parties in the Dutch market for medium-sized management buy outs. She focuses in particular on situations of business succession, management buy outs and growth.
