About CNPq

The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), an agency of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), has as its main attributions to promote scientific and technological research and encourage the training of Brazilian researchers. Created in 1951, it plays a key role in formulating and conducting science, technology and innovation policies. Its work contributes to national development and the recognition of Brazilian research institutions and researchers by the international scientific community.
