About Monte Carlo Capital
Monte Carlo Capital is a multistage venture capital firm investing in seed-stage disruptive technology companies and building positions over multiple rounds. Based in Monaco, MCC invests in the U.S., U.K., and EU, targeting tech-driven firms with strong market potential. Initially started by Ian as an angel investment vehicle, MCC has evolved into a venture capital firm with a dedicated team. The first fund is managed by Ian as a solo General Partner, supported by his team, leveraging experience from running over 50 syndicates previously. Ian founded Monte Carlo Capital (MCC) in 2009, initially as an angel investor to invest his own capital. Before launching MCC, he worked across Paris, London, Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong at some of the world’s biggest investment banks. Until 2009, Ian was the regional Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets in Asia for Commerzbank, overseeing activities in equity derivatives, credit, precious metals, foreign exchange, debt capital markets, and the treasuries of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai. He is a winner of the 2019 "Best European Angel Investor" award and serves on the boards of EBAN—the Brussels-based pan-European angel organization representing the European angel community—and the Monaco Venture Capital Association. Ian has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences globally and was an adjunct professor for venture capital and entrepreneurial finance at the International University of Monaco until 2021. A citizen of Monaco, he leads MCC's team based in the Principality.
